While working at Fighting Fit I am constantly being asked for tips and tricks for shredding them extra pounds a little bit quicker.

My advice for this is simple and guaranteed to get results.

Simply track your food.

Whilst on a journey of fat loss it is important to develop some keystone habits that will help you achieve your goal and make things easier as well.

One of these habits is keeping a food diary, this is a very simple but effective way to manage food intake. It can be very easy to fall into a rut and not pay any attention to the quality or quantity of food intake. A study from 2008 of 1700 people shows that the simple act of recording what you eat in some form of food diary can double weight loss. This will discourage snacking and encourage you to eat mindfully as well as plan and pay attention to your meals.

A tool we utilise at Fighting Fit is “MyFitnessPal” which is basically a food diary with an extremely large database. This can help you record and manage information such as Calories, Macronutrients (Carbs,Fats,Protein) and Micronutrients (Vitamins and Minerals) we have found this to be very useful for our clients to have an easy method for tracking food and also to educate them about food content and how easy it can be to over and under eat.

Tracking food is a vital part of burning off that excess fat, you are what you eat and if you are not mindful about the fuel you put in your body then you are setting yourself up for failure.

If we don’t measure it we can’t manage it.

Whether you are old school or new school; tracking your food is crucial for fat loss and should be practiced by everyone who is serious about their results.
